The Scots Fiddle School was formed in 1980 to encourage the practical study of traditional music which is so much part of the musical heritage of Scotland.

The course caters for players of all ages and standards, although a minimum of Grade 3 is recommended. It deals with fiddle techniques, bowing and ornamentation and gives an insight into the history of fiddle playing and the lives of famous exponents of this art.

Tuition is provided on an individual and group lesson basis.

The tutor for the course will be Sharon Hassan

The University Hall of Residence offers comfortable accommodation in well-appointed single rooms with private facilities. It is situated on the outskirts of St Andrews where there are excellent recreational facilities available.

The course concludes with a public concert in Buchanan Theatre, 79 North Street,St Andrews on Friday 31 July at 2.00pm

Fees
£300  Resident, including full board and tuition
£200  Non Resident, including lunch, dinner and tuition

A non-returnable deposit of £50 should be forwarded along with the enrolment form by 25 June, 2009.

The outstanding balance to be paid by 27 June, 2009

Financial assistance towards the cost of the course may be available from your Local Council
Bursary Awards
