Bursary Awards Scheme

The Scottish Amateur Music Association administers three Bursary Award Schemes which are available for members attending any of The Scottish Amateur Music Association's Courses and Schools which take place within the United Kingdom.

  1. SAMA BURSARY AWARD SCHEME: Available for participants of any SAMA course with the exception of NYBBS.
  2. NYBBS Carnegie UK Trust BURSARY SCHEME: Available for NYBBS only.
  3. MATTHEW TRUST BURSARY AWARD SCHEME: Available to residents of Angus Council, The City of Dundee Council and Perthshire and Kinross Council.

These take the form of providing financial assistance towards the cost of the school and provide some financial assistance to the cost of travelling.

The Award Schemes apply in particular to applicants who have received little or no grant aid from their Local Council and the following factors will be taken into consideration:

  • i) The commitment and dedication of the applicant.
  • ii) The circumstances of each individual, particularly if they are students or they, or their parents/guardians, are unemployed.

Please note the following:
  • Course fee must be paid in full before any award will be made.
  • Applications should be submitted one month before the start of the course
  • Applications will be treated in strict confidence
